ASTREE is a database of profiles of 800,000 primary and 465,000 secondary French companies including descriptive information, financial summary, managers, shareholders and subsidiaries.

The information for each company includes contact information (including phone and fax numbers and an increasing number of website addresses), activity information (the company’s trade, NAF number and business description), a financial summary for up to 3 years, management, shareholders and subsidiaries.
The software lets you search for companies that comply with your own criteria. You can combine as many conditions as you like and you can use full Boolean logic (and, or, not). When you have identified a group of companies you can view them on a map of France, create tables and lists for further use and download them into most packages. You can also analyse the results of your search in a simple matrix plotting the companies by the criteria of your choice. For example, you can view a group of companies by region and activity and plot the results graphically.
Further features include: an Addin function that facilitates the analysis of “liveö data from ASTREE within Excel/Access and BvD’s matching software, which allows you to compare your own database records with those that also occur in ASTREE and update or enhance your data accordingly. You can also upload a file of companies to analyse in ASTREE.
As the software on ASTREE is so flexible you can use it for different research projects – it is especially useful in a business development function. Using ASTREE you can: create customised lists for direct marketing campaigns (ASTREE even includes a special template for automated fax marketing campaigns), examine your customer base by creating tables and graphs to highlight where your company is successful, identify levels of saturation and areas for potential versus those that indicate little return on your investment or understand the geographic penetration of a group of companies/industries. ASTREE is ideal for gauging the feasibility of potential markets or campaigns and re-assessing your sales territories.
